Snowflake & BigQuery Workspaces: Faster Creation, Updated UI
We've made backend changes to Snowflake and BigQuery workspaces that remove the internal sandbox layer previously used during workspace creation. This simplifies the architecture and brings a noticeable improvement: workspaces now open instantly — there's no longer a wait for a background job to finish before you can start working.
What changed in the UI
Because workspaces no longer rely on background jobs for creation, the job history previously visible in the workspace sidebar ("Last Use" jobs) is no longer available. We've heard from several of you that this information was useful — particularly for checking when a workspace was last loaded with fresh data.
We appreciate the feedback and are working on improvements to restore this visibility. In the short term, we're exploring options to surface the last data load timestamp directly in the workspace UI.
Who is affected
Users of Snowflake and BigQuery workspaces. No action is required — existing workspaces continue to work normally.
