Keboola MCP Server: query_data Runs Read-Only Queries Only

The query_data tool of the Keboola MCP Server now runs only queries that read data. To create or change tables, use a SQL transformation.

The query_data tool of the Keboola MCP Server now runs read-only SQL only. Each call accepts one SELECT, WITH … SELECT, SHOW, DESCRIBE or EXPLAIN statement.

Statements that create or change data or objects, such as CREATE, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, ALTER or DROP, and several statements in one call, return an error and do not run.

Why

query_data is meant for reading data from your project. AI assistants call it on their own, often without asking you first, and a read-only tool is safe to call that way: it cannot change your data by mistake.

What to do

To create or change tables, use a SQL transformation. You can ask your AI assistant to create and run one for you with the transformation tools. Queries that only read data work as before.
